Water is an exhaustible resource  and in the meantime indispensable for the life of every human being. We cannot imagine life without this essential element.  Currently not all the Earth’s population have access to drinkable water like us;  just think of the African Continent conditioned by the lack of water as a primary resource, and pollution that makes water  impossible to drink – even if it is available.  From this assumption Kim Hyo and Seol Ah Sun,  two designers, have invented ‘Saviour Bud’, a device which produces drinkable water from the leaves of  trees.

The device works in this way:  you look for a tree with numerous leaves, attach the device to a small branch and surround the leaf, creating around it a sort of miniature greenhouse.  In four hours the leaf will have produced enough water to fill up a glass and satisfy a person’s thirst.  The idea is great, but my advice is to think of those people who do not have access to drinkable water and therefore not to waste it.

L’acqua è una fonte esauribile e al tempo stesso indispensabile per la vita di ogni essere umano! Non potremmo immaginare la vita senza questo essenziale elemento! Attualmente non tutti i popoli sulla terra hanno facilmente a disposizione  l’acqua potabile  come noi; basti pensare al continente africano, piegato dalla mancanza d’acqua come risorsa prima, e dalla mancanza d’acqua a causa dell’inquinamento, che rende impossibile usare l’acqua per dissetarsi, anche quando è disponibile. Da questo presupposto Kim Hyo e Seol Ah Sun, i due designer, hanno progettato Savior Bud, un dispositivo che produce acqua potabile dalle foglie degli alberi.

Il dispositivo funziona in  questo modo: si cerca un albero con numerose foglie; si attacca il dispositivo ad un rametto e si circonda la foglia, creando intorno ad esse una specie di serra in miniatura. In quattro ore la foglia avrà prodotto abbastanza acqua per riempire un bicchiere e dissetare una persona.

L’idea è grandiosa, ma il mio consiglio è di pensare a quei popoli che non hanno accesso all’acqua potabile e pertanto di non sprecarla!
