Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute and Alberta Farm Machinery Research Centre study, has shown that using a floating, cutting bar on a mower has reduced up to 50% the loss of lentils during the harvesting compared with the conventional mowers.
The results were excellent with mature lentils harvested on dried soils, while with green lentils results were less satisfactory. The infestation weeds did not cause a problem for the swinging, cutting bar.
but the swinging bar was inadequate for wet soils. Two prototypes for the protection of the lifter were made for the unconventional mowers to improve the harvesting in extreme conditions. The best affect obtained for the lifting of the plants was the half moon shaped plant lifter.
Uno studio del Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute e dell’Alberta Farm Machinery Research Centre, ha messo in evidenza che usando una barra di taglio galleggiante su una falciatrice si sono ridotte le perdite di lenticchia in fase di raccolta del 50 %, se confrontate con le falciatrici convenzionale.
Le prestazioni sono state eccellenti nella raccolta della lenticchia matura, su terreni asciutti, mentre le prestazioni sono state ridotte quando le colture erano ancora verdi. Le infestazioni di erbacce non hanno causato problemi nella performance della falciatrice.
Diversamente l’oscillazione è risultata inadeguata in terreni bagnati. Due prototipi di protezione dell’elevatore in falciatrici non convenzionali sono stati fabbricati per migliorare il funzionamento nella fase di raccolta e in condizioni avverse. Una delle limitazioni principali sperimentate dai produttori è la difficoltà nella raccolta della lenticchia, connesse all’altezza e alla tendenza delle lenticchie ad allettarsi alla maturità.
La preparazione del terreno per la raccolta successiva comincia già in fase di raccolta nella stagione precedente con la selezione di un appezzamento con una bassa presenza di infestanti specialmente a foglia larga e che sia privo o quasi di pietre. Se i residui del raccolto precedente non vengono raccolti bisogna accertarsi che siano gestiti correttamente.
Un’altra buona pratica è quella di lasciare il letto di semina livellato dopo la semina. Rullando il terreno dopo la semina si livellerà il terreno interrando le pietre e piccoli corpi estranei come ramoscelli o altro materiale rimasto dal precedente raccolto. About two weeks ago, after months of work and anxiety, the harvest of the “Altamuran Lentils” began.
The harvesting has been carried out after having scythed the plants in order to evaluate a different harvesting technique. It seems that the results have been satisfactory, at least from the qualitative point of view, even though the season (rainy) created some problems.
Now we have to wait for the final results in order to draw the definitive conclusion to be able to insert in the future corporate Blog.

Circa due settimane fa è iniziata la raccolta della “Lenticchia di Altamura” dopo mesi di lavoro e preoccupazioni.
La raccolta è stata effettuata dopo aver provveduto allo sfalcio delle piante, per valutare una differente tecnica di raccolta. Sembra che i risultati siano soddisfacenti almeno dal punto di vista qualitativo, anche se l’annata (causa pioggia) ha creato un pò di problemi.
Adesso aspettiamo i risultati finali per poter trarre conclusioni definitive, da poter inserire sul futuro corporate blog.
